Two short and lovely e-cookbooks have come to my attention lately. First is this collection of almonds recipes by Kate Washington from Hangtime Press. We all know about almond bars and almond brittle, but Washington shows off the savory side of almonds with delights like Roasted Tomato Almond Soup, Whole-Wheat Spaghetti with Kale, Preserved Lemon and Almonds, and Lamb Curry with Almonds. Almonds in the Savory Kitchen includes ten easy and nutritious recipes designed for home cooks looking for the delicious, the healthful, and the crowd-pleasing in one source.

The second is this collection of tips, ideas, inspiration, and recipes for easy breezy summer entertaining from Amelia Saltsman, author of The Santa Monica Farmers' Market Cookbook. Saltsman's love of summer entertaining is infectious, and she makes every step sound like simple, easy, common sense. This focus is on seasonal produce, so the results are, for the most part, as healthful as they are tempting.
