Keep the Heat Sweet: No-Bake Desserts

I spent the weekend driving my kid to camp up in the Sierra Mountains. While it's cold and foggy here in San Francisco, the overnight with friends in Sacramento and two days in Central Valley and Gold Country heat made me appreciate a little bit more what most of the country has been going through this summer. Turning on the oven - or even the grill - may not be sounding so great to many of you. With that in mind, I've been looking around About.com at what some of the other food guides have to suggest in terms of summer cooking. These no bake desserts from our Guide to Cooking With Kids include cold pies, parfaits, milkshakes, and a few less-expected items too. I'm definitely going to have to try these ice cream cone cannoli recipe, made with sweetened ricotta cheese, mini chocolate chips, and pistachio nuts in sugar cones.
