My dear friend sent me these pictures of a produce stand operating at a rest area along the Delaware Turnpike (I-95). The people tending it said they are there on Fridays, Sundays, and holidays and do a swift business of people buying healthy food for the road, things to cook when they get to their vacation spot, and food to stock the kitchen on their way back home on Sunday night. A little digging revealed this is far from the only such operation tapping into the growing interest in eating fresh, seasonal, local produce.
As you can see, they offer a decent range of fruits and
vegetables. I know I would be tempted by blueberries to eat in the car, perhaps some sweet corn to cook over the weekend, and a few tomatoes for easy salads. What would you buy?
