I was lucky enough to spend a bit of time in Arkansas last fall. There were many things, foodwise, to recommend it: wonderful varieties of tomatoes at farmers markets, tender and sweet pies around every corner, and fabulous mashed potatoes served at a high proportion of meals. My favorite discovery, however, was at this drive-up restaurant, Susie Q's.
The homemade cheeseburger was juicy, but even more exciting was the fact that one could get fries, onion rings, or fried okra with it.
What's not to love about such abundance of fried okra? Where I live, if I want fried okra, I need to make it myself. Learn more about Arkansas Local Foods here, then tell us what you love about eating locally in Arkansas.
