State of the Week: Arkansas

I was lucky enough to spend a bit of time in Arkansas last fall. There were many things, foodwise, to recommend it: wonderful varieties of tomatoes at farmers markets, tender and sweet pies around every corner, and fabulous mashed potatoes served at a high proportion of meals. My favorite discovery, however, was at this drive-up restaurant, Susie Q's.

The homemade cheeseburger was juicy, but even more exciting was the fact that one could get fries, onion rings, or fried okra with it.
