This creamy version of classic hard sauce is easy to make and adds a rich, sweet finish to any cake or pudding. It is particularly good with simple cakes and warm pies.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes
Yield: about 1 cup Creamy Hard Sauce
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup butter at room temperature
- 1 1/4 cups confectioners' sugar (powdered sugar)
- 1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
- 2 - 3 Tbsp. whiskey, bourbon, or brandy
Preparation:
In a large bowl, use an electric mixer (or standing mixer) or cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and whiskey. The mixture will separate and look grainy. Keep beating until the mixture comes back together into a creamy texture.
Serve at room temperature with a warm dessert – the warmth of the cake, pie, or pudding will melt the creamy sauce.
Store covered and chilled for up to a week. Bring to room temperature before serving.
