These desserts—red, white, blue—are perfect for July Fourth. Not only are the colors spot-on, but they use seasonal ingredients that are available locally in much of the U.S. come early July.

Red is easy: strawberries, cherries, and raspberries are in or coming into season across the U.S. this time of year.

White Desserts for July Fourth

White is cream and whipped cream, vanilla ice cream and milk shakes. For a bit more flavor white is Buttermilk Ice Cream, an easy Panna Cotta, or a simple Buttermilk Cake.

Need I mention that all three of these white wonders both taste and look absolutely fabulous when topped with red and blue berries?

The blue-est dessert I know is Blueberry and Jam Tart. It is double-blue, a deep shiny blue from the jam and a lighter matte blue from the fresh berries.

Two close runners-up that bring a dash of blue to the table are Blueberry Ice Cream and Blueberry Sorbet.
