We all keep a few totes and other reusable shopping bags around, right? Some of us even remember to actually bring them into the store and use them (imagine that!). 3B Produce Bags are the next step and are meant to replace all those plastic bags we pull off the dispenser in the produce section to bag our lettuce greens and apples and green onions.

Test Run

3B bags are made of a sturdy feeling but lightweight mesh nylon with pretty lime green drawstrings at the top to close them. Since most produce does better when not completely sealed in the fridge, the lack of a completely seal-able bag does not concern me in the least.

Since I already rinse out produce plastic bags and reuse them all the time, the move to using these bags has been a snap. If they're not very dirty (they held some potatoes, for example, or a half dozen zucchini) I just rinse them out and dry them as I do plastic bags. The big benefit is when they get a bit grubbier - these bags can be thrown in the washing machine for a thorough cleaning (plastic bags that get that dirty I just toss).

Why not 5 stars then? Points off for the cute-as-a-button brand tag on the side of the bag. It sticks out, makes scrunching the bags less easy that it should be, and seem both unnecessary and out of place. (Note: I fixed that with a few snips of the scissors.)

If you're already rinsing and reusing plastic bags, these will be a nice shift to a better-feeling and longer-lasting product. If you've been reluctant to reuse plastic bags because of the hassle or mess of cleaning them or perhaps they don't feel like they get quite clean enough, these washable nylon bags solve all those problems.
