Grilled plums are a great way to serve these luscious summer and early fall delights. They are great alongside grilled pork or sausages, but even better when served with ice cream or frozen yogurt for dessert.
- Prepare a grill to medium hot heat (you should be able to hold you hand an inch over the cooking grate for 2 to 3 seconds. Make sure the cooking grate is clean and well oiled.
- Halve and pit plums (at least 1 plum per person). You can peel them if you like, but it's not necessary.
- Put plums on a tray or baking sheet. Brush them with a light, neutral flavored oil such as canola oil or grapeseed oil.
- Put plums, cut-side down, on the grill. Cover and cook until grill-marked and heated through, about 5 minutes.
Serve plums hot or warm as a side dish or with ice cream for dessert.
