Buttermilk Dill Salad Dressing

By Molly Watson, About.com

This light yet creamy dressing is perfect for the tender, young lettuces of spring and early summer. (Note: It may remind you of "ranch dressing" but is ever so much fresher and brighter than any bottled dressing.)

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 Tbsp. chopped fresh dill
  • 2 Tbsp. chopped fresh chives
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. garlic powder (optional)

Preparation:

Whisk together buttermilk and mayonnaise to thoroughly combine. Stir in dill, chives, and salt. Add garlic powder to taste, if you like. Cover and chill at least 3 minutes and up to 1 week before using.

Makes 3/4 cup Buttermilk Dill Salad Dressing.
