Simple steamed cauliflower is a tasty treat with just a sprinkle of salt, in my book. But variety is the spice of life, and cauliflower can find some variety when paired with a spoonful or two of pesto. I like to use homemade pesto (I make and freeze large batches when basil is in season), but the store-bought variety works, too – feel free to doctor it up with more salt or lemon juice for an extra kick of flavor.

Total Time: 20 minutes
Yield: Makes 4 to 6 servings
Ingredients:
- 1 head cauliflower

Preparation:
Trim cauliflower and cut into florets (I like to keep them more or less bite-sized). Steam the cauliflower until tender. Top with the pesto to taste and serve hot or at room temperature.
